Product Reviews
We have driven our Highlander 60k plus mostly highway miles on a set of Cooper Discover SRXs. A very good tire for the price. We are going with another set of SRXs before the snow flies this winter. Better wearing than advertised.
2016 Ford Explorer Sport 255/50/20 with 65,000 miles and 35.1 psi with consistent rotation at 5,000 miles. I’ll start by saying I’m a Michelin guy. These tires replaced the Premier LTX that were completely shot after 50,000 miles. Previously replaced the junk OEM Hankooks at 15,000 miles. After reading many, many reviews and being impressed with a set of Cooper AT3’s that I put on my 1999 Wrangler, I thought I would give the SRX’s a try on the Explorer. I was planning on switching to the Michelin Defender as well. I’m a road warrior and a “spirited” driver. I had the SRX’s installed and headed North to the UP of Michigan. They balanced them perfectly I might add. I left in ice and sleet which cleared after 100 miles, then heavy rain that changed to snow; and then blizzard conditions in the first 500 miles of driving. In three days, I can report in at 1000 miles on the clock. I first noticed how significantly quieter these tires are than the Premiers; so much so, I now realize that I have some wind noise coming from my passenger door that requires some minor adjustment. These tires start out rough and need about 5 miles to warm up in below freezing temps…and will step up about 3psi at speed to the 38psi mark; then they’re smooth as butter at 90mph. Unlike the higher performance Michelin…these need a warm up to smooth out. Remember this is 109H vs a 109V. You will notice a slight loss of performance handling, but a much plusher ride…so if you have an extra 200hp with a Livernois upgrade, these tires are not for you. They outperform the Michelins in Ice, Snow and Heavy Rain but will require some getting used to with spirited cornering as these tires are also 8 lbs heavier than the Premier…but they STICK! To be fair to Michelin…an honest comparison would be with the Defender, not the Premier’s. Thus far, I am extremely pleased with my decision to purchase and will update my review as time progresses. I like everything about them…and they have exceeded my expectations. They’re also very cool to look at! I’ll be back!
I put these tires on my Honda Pilot after having a set of Michelins. I wanted tires that were rated similar to Michelin but did not cost as much. With these Cooper SRX tires, I think I found a good replacement. I have a few thousand miles on the tires and find them to handle well and feel good on the road. They seem to be quiet on my vehicle (other have noted they are loud but this is not my experience). I got what appears to be a good set of tires that should last as long as the Michelins, but saved about $200 compared to the Michelins.
Great traction and wear. Cannot go wrong. Also very reasonable in price.
I like the tires in the snow however, hydroplaning I always seemed to grit my teeth when I did run into a water on the road. After a few times of gritting my teeth, I just didn't feel comfortable driving in the rain and even said to myself while driving that I would never buy these tires again.
This is the smoothest, quietest tires I've had for my 2003 Toyota Sequoia, and I've had a few. I've had them for over a month and putting over 1,000 miles on them. I have not driven on snow yet, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.
I have disliked these tires from day 1. They don't balance out correctly and never have. Had major vibration issues until finally had a road force balance done. Still have a vibration even with that being done (wasn't there before I had these tires put on). Now they are starting to be rather loud on the highway. One of the tires that's had the most trouble balancing has not worn evenly which is part of the noise issue. I have put almost 30k miles on them and would not buy these again. These might have turned me off of Cooper tires and I have used them on many different vehicles.
I live rural in Minnesota and had no problems going through deep snow on unplowed roads this past winter. I love how quiet they are on the highway. Most impressive is ice-traction, stopping and getting going again. People blame tires instead of the lack of suspension maintenance but I have about 15k miles on them now and they hardly show any wear at all. I don't think I'll have any problems getting 75k-85k miles out of them.
I purchased a set of Cooper Discover SRX for my 2006 Honda Ridgeline. These tires are rated for 65,000 miles however the front tires now need replacing with less than 20,000 miles on them. I had them rotated at 10,000 instead of 8,000 so voids the warranty. The tires handle well but not happy with the wear. I will not buy Cooper tires again.
Just put them on my journey today, very happy boy I am, we have lots of snow and I put them to use I'll tell ya!
I never had Cooper tires on a vehicle, but read good reviews about this tire and decided to try them. I have only had them a couple weeks and am very pleased. I noticed a difference immediately with the handling and cornering. It rained yesterday and I drove around to see how they handled, I had fun going through some puddles, and they exceeded my expectations. I never lost traction. One of the biggest things I noticed was how quiet the tires are going down the highway. I'm not looking forward to snow, but I am looking forward to trying the tires in the snow. I'm sure I won't be disappointed if they perform as other reviews I read.
Loved these tires, they were quiet on the highway and handled really well!
Great tires. Drove amazing on snow. Had about 8 inches of snow and no sliding or spinning going up hills. Nice sporty looking tires.
This is a great tire. I would highly recommend for SUV&s. Haven't driven in snow yet so can't comment on that aspect.
